The Jetty — Ocean Beach’s Newest Hangout on Voltaire Street
Ocean Beach’s north end has been quietly leveling up for years, and The Jetty — opening at 4934 Voltaire Street — feels like the moment that stretch finally gets its anchor. After almost a year and a half of renovations, Kyle Jaworski and Sebastian Widman, two longtime OB hospitality pros, have taken over the former Voltaire Beach House space and rebuilt it into a 148-seat neighborhood pub with a coastal, open-air vibe.
They’re calling it a “beach pub‑meets‑lounge,” not a gastropub, not a sports bar — but something in between that still keeps OB’s personality front and center. The menu is intentionally eclectic, and with Widman’s craft beer and cocktail background they will also offer dishes they feel OB doesn’t currently offer.
The Space

The renovation brings together:
A bar with high‑tops
A garden patio with heaters
A dedicated dining area
A possible private‑event space for groups of 20–40 (rare in OB) not yet for sure.
The patio is dog‑friendly — fitting for a spot just steps from Dog Beach.
Open daily from noon to 9 p.m. with a soft start
Menu still developing, weekly specials too
Open, airy seating, with plans for a patio fireplace

The Block Is Changing
Voltaire Street isn’t the sleepy side street it used to be. The Jetty sits next to Hungry Lu’s, across from City Tacos, Mike Hess Brewing, Dog Beach Dog Wash, and OB Tattoo & Piercing. Down the block is Lucy’s; around the corner, yoga and martial arts studios. The corridor is becoming its own little ecosystem — and The Jetty is positioned right in the middle of it.
Why It Matters
OB’s dining scene has always punched above its weight — Hodad’s, Pizza Port, South Beach, Wonderland — but most of the energy stays around Newport Avenue. The Jetty could shift some of that gravity north toward Dog Beach, giving locals another true neighborhood spot without the Newport crowds.
Jaworski and Widman aren’t outsiders parachuting in. They’ve poured pints, run bars, and served this community for years. They know OB’s quirks, its expectations, and its loyalty — and they’re building The Jetty to fit that exact flavor.
